Frequently Asked Questions

Is Prime SEO really free?

Yes. The plugin on WordPress.org is free and includes llms.txt, the AI Bots Manager, AI Crawler Stats, meta tags, sitemaps, schema markup, redirects and the other modules listed above. Prime SEO Pro is a separate paid version that adds the AI writing features.

Do I need an OpenAI API key?

No. The free plugin does not use AI and sends nothing anywhere. Pro includes 500 generations a month through the Prime SEO AI service; an OpenAI key is optional, for sites that want no limit or the GPT-4o model. Post titles, excerpts and content are sent only when you press a generate button or Re-analyze.

Can I use it alongside Yoast SEO or Rank Math?

You should run one SEO plugin at a time, otherwise meta tags and sitemaps are printed twice. Use the migration tool to import your existing data, check a few posts, then deactivate the previous plugin.

Which AI search engines does it support?

The AI Bots Manager covers crawlers from OpenAI (GPTBot, ChatGPT-User, OAI-SearchBot), Anthropic (ClaudeBot, anthropic-ai, Claude-Web), Google (Google-Extended), Perplexity, Apple, Common Crawl, ByteDance and Meta. llms.txt and schema markup are read by any tool that chooses to use them.

Will AI-written meta descriptions hurt my rankings?

Google's guidance focuses on whether content is helpful, not on how it was produced. Treat generated titles and descriptions as drafts: the plugin shows every result before saving, and the Bulk Generator keeps an undo log.

Does the plugin slow down my site?

Admin scripts and styles load only on Prime SEO screens and the post editor. On the front end the plugin prints meta tags and JSON-LD. The only script it can add is the Google Analytics tag, and only if you switch on the Analytics module and enter a GA4 ID.
