Overview

The AI Generator uses OpenAI's GPT models to automatically generate SEO metadata for your posts and pages. With a single click in the post editor, it creates optimized titles, descriptions, and social media metadata — all tailored to your specific content.

Unlike other SEO plugins that only generate basic titles, Prime SEO PRO generates 7 fields at once: SEO Title, Meta Description, OG Title, OG Description, Twitter Title, Twitter Description, and Focus Keywords.

What Gets Generated

How to Use

Open any post or page Navigate to the WordPress editor for the post or page you want to optimize.
Scroll to the Prime SEO metabox The metabox appears below the editor with SEO, Social, and Advanced tabs.
Click "Generate with AI" Look for the gradient button with a sparkle icon at the top of the metabox.
Wait 2–3 seconds The AI analyzes your content and generates optimized metadata for all fields.
Review the generated fields All tabs (SEO and Social) are populated automatically. Check the Google Preview to see how it looks.
Edit and save Adjust any field manually if needed, then save or update the post.
Tip
The AI analyzes your post's actual content, so write your content first, then generate the SEO metadata.

API Key Setup

The AI Generator requires an OpenAI API key to function. Follow these steps to set it up:

Open the Settings page Go to Prime SEO → Settings → API Key section.
Enter your OpenAI API key Paste your API key from platform.openai.com.
Save Changes Click Save. The AI Generator button will now appear in the metabox.

The BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) model means you pay OpenAI directly at their rates — typically $0.01–0.03 per generation. There are no additional fees from Prime SEO for API usage.

Security
Your API key is stored securely in your WordPress database and is never shared with third parties.

How It Works

The AI Generator follows a streamlined process to produce high-quality SEO metadata:

Content extraction Extracts your post content, title, and any existing metadata from the editor.
Structured prompt Sends a carefully designed prompt to OpenAI's API with your content and optimization rules.
AI generation OpenAI returns optimized metadata respecting character limits for each platform.
Field population All 7 fields in the metabox are populated automatically across all tabs.

The prompt is designed to create SEO-optimized content that:

  • Uses power words and emotional triggers to boost click-through rates
  • Respects character limits for each platform (Google, Facebook, Twitter/X)
  • Maintains your content's key message and intent
  • Includes relevant keywords naturally without stuffing

Tips for Best Results

  • Write content first — the AI needs your actual content to generate relevant metadata
  • Set a focus keyword — if you enter a focus keyword before generating, the AI will incorporate it into all fields
  • Review and adjust tone — AI output is a strong starting point, but you may want to match your brand voice
  • Include product details — for product pages, make sure key features and benefits are in the content
  • Aim for 200+ words — the AI works best with content of at least 200 words, giving it enough context to generate accurate metadata

AI-generated metadata is a starting point. Always review and adjust for accuracy, especially for sensitive topics, legal content, or brand-specific messaging.
